To implement and promote the economic growth and development policy of the Gauteng Provincial Government in the areas of economic production, investment and trade.

GEDA is an autonomous organization, which has representatives of provincial government and the private sector on its board. Its chairman is the MEC for Finance and Economic Affairs. The provincial government largely funds GEDA. A professional team under a Chief Executive Officer runs it.
GEDA was created to serve as a spark to ignite investment and trade in Gauteng, South Africa. At core, its function is to introduce investors to the province and the province to investors, in a positive way so as to generate not just investment and trade but lasting rewarding partnerships. GEDA has over the last 14 months generated in excess of 1.4 billion Rand of sustainable new investment in Gauteng.
